Kewanee Hospital’s 10thAnnual William Lininger Golf Classic raised nearly $22,000 as 94 golfers hit the links at the Kewanee Dunes on June 4th. The afternoon’s festivities included lunch and a 4-person team preferred ball tournament with an appetizer social, awards ceremony and silent auction to follow. The outing, which memorializes the late William Lininger (long time member of the Hospital’s Board of Trustees), is hosted by the Hospital’s Business Relations and Community Relations Committees.
Before and after golfing, participants had the opportunity to bid on silent auction items including Cardinals tickets, autographed Cubs photographs, a night’s stay at the Chestnut Street Inn, a number of gift baskets, and large potted plants and an iron bench from Sunnyfield. The silent auction raised just over $1100. Ronna Johnson was the winner of Cecile, an American Girl doll, and Dr. Troy Cutler of Emergency Physicians Staffing Solutions, won the Nike Driver donated by Ken & Bonnie Dison. Prizes were also awarded for hole events, as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the overall event.
For the second year in a row, the Office Machine Consultants team took home 1stPlace. The team consisted of Matt Costenson, Don VanDeRostyne, Jeremiah Brueghman and Jason Sturtevant, who each received a ribeye steak platter donated by Save-A-Lot, a bottle of wine donated by Boswell Distributing, and a sleeve of Titleist golf balls. The 2ndPlace team consisted of Amanda Kocis and Ian Swindler (Kewanee Hospital Rehabilitation Services) and Eric Webber and Patrick Ward (Central Illinois Radiology Associates). Each team member received a gift certificate for a round of golf with cart donated by The Kewanee Dunes and a sleeve of golf balls donated by Nike Golf. The 3rdPlace team received four one-hour massages donated by Kewanee Hospital Rehabilitation Services and consisted of Jody Junis, Donnie Chappell, Jim Johnson and Jarred Hippen.
Hole prize winners throughout the day included: Renee Salisbury, Women’s Longest Drive; Chris Gustafson, Men’s Longest Drive; Lynn Fulton, Women’s Longest Putt; Stan Bockewitz, Men’s Longest Putt.
Winner of the 50/50 Raffle, which raised $156, was Tom Martineau who generously donated his earnings back to Kewanee Hospital. David North was the winner of the Putting Contest, taking home a putter donated by Union Federal Savings & Loan. A few lucky golfers won double their money on the betting hole, which raised nearly $300.
Platinum Sponsors at the $2000 level included Emergency Physicians Staffing Solutions, Drinker Biddle & Reath and Regional Media. Gold Sponsors at the $1000 level included Community State Bank and Central Illinois Radiological Associates. Many area businesses and individuals also contributed as Silver Sponsors ($500), Bronze Sponsors ($200), Social Sponsors ($100) and Cart Sponsors ($50).
Funds raised at the annual event are used for capital purchases, service enhancements, and technological updates at Kewanee Hospital. The 11thannual event is scheduled for Monday, June 3, 2013.
